Interpretation in Hope, Edale and Castleton

The Peak District Interpretation Partnership has been active in the villages of Hope, Edale and Castleton for over ten years, supporting the work of the local ‘Interpretation and Environmental Education Group’.

In 1998 the group produced a ‘Local Interpretive Plan’.  This provided a focus for their endeavours, and helped them raise funds to carry out a number of projects.  The process of producing the plan also helped develop enthusiasm amongst local people.

Over £41,000 worth of interpretive activities have taken place:

  • Eight interpretive panels have been set up around the Valley.

  • ‘No Flowers for Elizabeth’ is a community publication which pulls together the memories and opinions of the residents of Castleton, Edale and Hope.
